Lenale ndem palace originated from Lewoh,in Alou of Lebialem Division in the South West Region of Cameroon.Its transition and final establishment in Melong of the Melong Division in the Littoral region is long history embedded in the Mbo Culture.
Its inhabitants are predominantly Bangwa people with cultural linked from the Bamileke and those of Ekoi from the Cross-River state of Nigeria.Within the anthropological configuration,the Bangwa people and Melong share common boundaries from the East with the Bamileke,and in the North West,with Batibo,West with Banyang,and soud with Mbo and the Nkinkwa.This portrayer the starting point in the relationship to the economic and culture aspects.Is on the basis that there exist in Cameroon twoo big ethnics group called Bangwa,one based in the South West region in Lebialem,and the other in Nde Division of the West region of Cameroon.
Biography his magesty
H.R.M Tatabong Alexandre inherited the artifacts since 1972 from the late father H.R.M Mbe Tatabong.he was recruited into the national Gendammerie in 1970 and went on retirement in 2003. His function as a gendarmerie officer enable him to work in many regions of Cameroon. As a chief,he received numerous artifacts as gifts from his colleagues.he nevertheless,purchased those that had aritistic meaning. Reason why he can showcase the different tribes such as. Beti,Fang,Bamoun,Bamileke and some other clans in the North West region.All these are found and installed in his Lenale ndem Palace in Melong.The artifacts found in the palace are the embodiment of the inhabitants of Lenale ndem community in Melong. The Community once a year displaced over 2000 pieces of their cultural festivals.
Worth to notice is the fact that 25% of the heritage is from the family whose father was chief in Lebialem Division of the South West Region and the rest of the Collection was archieved during H.R.M Tatabong careers thanks to the collaboration from inhabitant.
